Royal Ascot | Sole Power on standby for Nunthorpe. Sole Power are ready for the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York following his fine third within the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Eddie Lynam's sprinter is enjoying a midsummer break before he bids to regain his Nunthorpe crown on August twenty four.

Sole Power won the race as a 100-1 shot 2 years ago.

Lynam said: "He took the race okay and he's simply having a pleasant flee within the field.

"He ran okay at Ascot. i used to be worried beforehand that he would not handle the bottom as he is a horse who likes to hear his hooves rattle.

"But Johnny (Murtagh) said he handled it well and there would not be any excuses on the day.

"The set up would be to freshen him up and go straight to the Nunthorpe if we tend to get any form of sensible weather the least bit between currently and then."

Lynam trains another sensible sprinter in Slade Power, who won his third race from 5 starts within the Listed Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last time.

Although he clearly has a way to travel to copy his esteemed stable companion, Lynam hopes the three-year-old can change into a top-level performer.

"He had his initial piece of labor since his Haydock run (on Thursday morning) and it went very well," said the County Meath handler.

"Hopefully he'll improve to a gaggle 3 currently and it might be nice to suppose he might win one among those before the top of the year.

"He's still a horse we're considerably minding for next season.

"The type of his Haydock win is sweet and also the time before that he was second to Ishvana, who won at Royal Ascot.

"We suppose he may well be a really sensible horse next year."

Lynam admits it's not inconceivable his 2 stable stars might cross methods at some stage, however hopes they'll be kept apart.

"It would not be not possible they might meet, however we expect at this stage that Sole Power could be a five-furlong specialist and Slade could be a six-furlong horse," said Lynam.

"If Slade Power progresses as we tend to hope he can, we tend to may well be during a excellent position for all the highest sprint races next season."
