Red Cadeaux alert in the Princess of Wales's. Simon Holt fancies Red Cadeaux to continue the shape he is shown this season and win the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket.

The big race on day one among Newmarket's July meeting is that the cluster 2 Princess of Wales's Goldsmith Stakes and it brings along some of the horses that ran within the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Red Cadeaux was third behind the spectacular winner ocean Moon, Jakkalberry was back in fifth, Fiorente sixth and Quest For Peace an extended means back.

I think that though Red Cadeaux encompasses a penalty and must offer 3lbs to people who were behind him at Ascot, he simply appears to be in terrific type this season.

Earlier within the campaign he won the Yorkshire Cup when Harris Tweed, who reopposes, was back in third. Then he finished second behind St Nicholas Abbey within the Coronation Cup at Epsom - thereforelid type from a horse so narrowly crushed in last season's Melbourne Cup.

I think he is up to the task here.

Harris Tweed is probably going to line an honest robust gallop which can suit Red Cadeaux. Jakkalberry can be handy and it's attainable that he'll have come back on for his run at Ascot, his 1st since the Dubai Sheema Classic when he was third behind Cirrus Des Aigles and St Nicholas Abbey.

He does, though, have some lengths to form up on Red Cadeaux and did not very devour well within the Hardwicke.

Modun, currently with Godolphin, could be a risk. He wasn't disgraced behind Fox Hunt on his last begin at Meydan in March and if back to one thing like his best type he may run well, having crushed Harris Tweed at Kempton last season.

However, the safest, most consistent runner within the race is Red Cadeaux and he is the one I fancy.
