Royal Ascot | JOVIALITY IN WINDSOR FOREST. Joviality held off the late lunge of Chachamaidee to induce John Gosden off the mark for Royal Ascot within the Windsor Forest Stakes.

Sir Henry Cecil's runner-up may go down as an unlucky loser when missing the break utterly and ultimately being crushed simply a neck.

Joviality (11-1) had won the Musidora Stakes at York last spring and was invariably handy for William Buick however when Tom Queally asked Chachamaidee to quicken she created ground rapidly.

Having hit the front a furlong out her early exertions simply took their toll and Joviality fought back to win.

Lay Time ran much better than her previous run at Epsom to say third however the cluster One winners Emulous and Nahrain were each well crushed.

Gosden, who saw The Nile suffer a fatal injury within the St James's Palace Stakes on the gap afternoon, said: "It's most likely a trifle short for her the mile and he or she did not handle Epsom.

"We had to attend for her to return right in June however she has lots of tenacity and that i extremely respect Henry's filly, who's terribly quick.

"But i believed if we are able to be within the right place and he or she should come back to us, we'd  outstay her.

"It was an exciting performance. She needs a mile to a mile and 1 / 4 therefore there are some nice races for her just like the Nassau Stakes and also the Prix de l'Opera.

"That is that the elite finish and there are some rather nice fillies in France.

"We had a tough day yesterday and it is a strange game - it is a game of vicissitudes."

Cecil said of Chachamaidee: "She ran a good race. The last twofold she's dwelt a little within the stalls, however the hood settles her down.

"She came there to win her race and has faltered within the previous few yards.

"I suppose the dip at Newmarket can facilitate and she'll select the Falmouth Stakes."
